FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: What is Pre-Season Training (PST)?

A. The state (MSHSAA) requires a 14-day practice period prior to competition. Therefore, we provide PST to meet the requirement so that our students are eligible to play in games. If your student plans to participate in a fall sport, this is required for them. The start dates coincide with the first games.

Q. How do I sign up? Where do I send my travel information(car/bus/plane)?

A. When you sign your child up for school, Pre-Season Training and Travel will be options on the online enrollment checklist. You must sign up through these forms for the file to be created on our end. If you have trouble, please contact us immediately.

Q: If my student-athlete is flying to Prin, where should he/she meet the houseparent at the airport?

A:  If your student is flying into the main terminal (most airlines), there is a houseparent at carousel #6. If they are flying Southwest into the east terminal, there is a houseparent at  baggage claim. Because it is a small area, the student should have no trouble locating the houseparent with the Principia pennant flag.  If you are concerned, please call the dorm the night before, or send us an email (Bonnie.Mansfield@principia.edu or Clark.Shutt@principia.edu)  and we will have someone at security to greet him or her.

Q. What are the dates of the different PSTs? what are the arrival times on the start dates?

A. All start date arrival times are between 12 p.m.-4 p.m.. If arriving by car, please do not arrive before noon.

ALL CAMPS END AT 5PM on August 26, 2012.The start dates for the 2011-12 Camps are:

Q. How can I reach my child during PST?

A. The school phones are not yet hooked up in their rooms, but students can be paged or messages left with the dorm host on duty. If the child has a cell phone, it may be used in the dorm. Cell phones will not be permitted at practice or meals. E-mail will more available during the 2ndweek.

Q. Can my child check out of the dorm and stay overnight at home or with a day student?

A. No. We ask that all students remain in the dorms together for the duration of Pre-Season Training. No sign-outs or driving off-campus will be permitted.

Q. Can students change roommates during training?

A. Students are assigned to their rooms by their coach. The only way they can change rooms or roommates is with the coach’s permission.

Q. Can I come on campus to watch my child practice?

A. You are welcome to attend an occasional practice. However, we ask that parents minimize their visits to the dorm! Try to think of this as a camp experience away from home. We kindly ask that local parents respect the training atmosphere. Thank you for supporting this request from the Home Department.
