Educational Travel

Purposeful travel is one of the best teachers ever! It broadens connections, deepens understanding, and produces inspired, global learners. That’s why we make sure all Principia students travel far beyond campus borders through a variety of extended journeys and regular field trips.

Extended, Off-Campus Experiential Learning

Principia students don’t just learn about history, art, politics, language, culture, and nature in class … they experience these firsthand, each spring. These annual, weeklong trips are made available to all students in grades 5–11.

Learn about Principia-style experiential learning opportunities:

  • Middle School: Opening Eyes—and Hearts
  • Upper School: Connecting People, Place, Purpose

Where We Learn

Fall Character Trips

Upper School students kick off each school year with a weeklong, wilderness expedition that strengthens their practice of teamwork and leadership and their understanding of Christian Science.

Watch a video about our character trips.

Service and Study Trips

We offer a selection of trips for Upper School students focused on specific courses, global service, or language learning. (The fee for participating in these trips is not included in tuition.)

Here are a few recent examples:

  • Tetons research trip for students enrolled in the college-credit Field and Natural History course
  • Israel and Holy Lands trip for students taking an advanced Bible seminar class
  • Simunye service trip to South Africa (a student's video)
  • Dominican Republic service trip to build homes for families
