International Students

International students seeking a high school diploma and who regularly attend a Christian Science Sunday School with a sincere desire to progress in their understanding and application of Christian Science are welcome to apply to our Upper School (grades 9–12). Principia requires at least one parent be active in the practice of Christian Science.

Eligibility

  • 2.5 minimum core GPA required
  • TOEFL required with minimum scores of 59 for incoming freshmen/sophomores and 72 for incoming juniors/seniors
  • International admission is not offered for students grade 8 and below.
  • We do not offer one-year enrichment or exchange programs.
  • Students who will turn age 19 prior to the July before their 12th-grade year are not eligible for admission

Admission Criteria

Every student’s application is given careful consideration with emphasis on these key areas: academics and citizenship; commitment to growth in Christian character; and a desire to live in accord with Principia's Community Commitment and Expectations.

Along with the completed application form, the following items are required:

  • In-person interview (on campus or via Skype)
  • School transcripts
  • Teacher recommendations
  • Character reference
  • Christian Science reference
  • Copy of passport
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Official TB test results

Costs

Applicants are expected to be able to cover these costs:

  • Any outstanding balance for tuition, room, board, and fees. Although Principia offers financial aid to qualified students, this amount may not entirely cover the cost of tuition, room, and board—and a student’s family is responsible for payment of the balance.
  • International flights to and from Principia.Transportation between your home and Principia is the responsibility of the student’s family.
  • Money for personal items, school supplies, uniforms, casual clothing, and social activities
  • TOEFL, TB test, or visa-related expenses (e.g., application, interview)
  • Health insurance (required)

A completed financial aid application should be submitted at the same time as the admissions application.

Important Application Dates

  • Applications for international admission are due no later than February 1, 2019.
  • TOEFL exams must be taken by the end of December in order to meet our application deadline. Principia's school code is 1964. Register at www.ets.org/toefl.
