Day in the Life: Lower School

  1. We love to start the day sharing information and inspiration.
  2. Morning literacy sessions often kick off with writing.
  3. Working in pairs is a good way to practice and get feedback.
  4. Our teachers are so supportive—and fun!
  5. iPads and software help us practice early literacy skills.
  6. Morning recess is a great time to discover what happens when you puff on a dandelion.
  7. Though for some of us, recess can be hard work—giving our friends a ride!
  8.  After recess, it’s time to get down to mathematics.
  9. Using manipulatives helps us master basic numeracy patterns and skills.
  10. Our lunch break provides extra time to enjoy fresh air.
  11. Afternoons are busy with projects and hands-on work in a range of subjects.
  12. We often conduct research outdoors and bring back samples for further study.
  13. Planting and caring for nature is a great way to learn about science.
  14. The Lower School Gym is a great place for indoor PE.
  15. We love spending time on our outdoor climbing wall during Project Adventure sessions.
  16. Storytime in the library is a favorite time for preschoolers.
  17. By the time we get to grade 5, we all learn how to play a band instrument.
  18. In the art studio, we often create multimedia pieces that relate to our study of science or social studies.
  19. Sí, hablamos español! All Lower School students learn Spanish weekly.
  20. We can’t wait for another day of learning with friends.
