After-School Physical Education

The Middle School physical education program provides an introductory experience to playing interscholastic team sports and offers students the opportunity to play on a team. Coaches focus on skill development, fitness, and the enjoyment and responsibilities of being on a team. Demonstrating one’s ability to overcome self-imposed limitations, rising higher in thought and actions, and facing challenges with conviction—all integral components of a Principia education—are some of the lessons students learn in Middle School physical education. In each sport, coaches work to create a team atmosphere based on hard work, pure motives, sportsmanship, and the demonstration of Christian Science.

“Athletics are a great vehicle for teaching life lessons—especially moral and spiritual lessons—because you have immediate assessment opportunities. We prepare our thought in advance of a practice or game, and then we put that thought into action.”
