Advisory

Each Middle School student is assigned an advisor who serves as that student’s special mentor. Small advisory groups comprised of sixth through eighth graders meet four times each week and provide opportunities for students to connect closely with peers and with a Middle School faculty or staff member through activities and discussions.

Topics vary and often include Christian Science, friendships, social issues, current events, and creative ideas for ongoing community building in Middle School.

“Something special happened recently in advisory. Three sixth grade girls were concerned about an academic challenge they were experiencing. The eighth grade girls in the group immediately volunteered to help solve the problem, even though it meant doing it during their own free time. The younger girls were immediately relieved and accepted the help. It was actually like watching older sisters guiding and coaching the sixth graders. It was lovely to watch them care for each other.”
