Character Education

Reaching Higher

There’s a lot of buzz about character education in schools these days. And we’re glad, since we’ve always believed it to be an integral component of education. But the key underlying difference about character education at Principia School is Christian Science.

Here, character education is striving to see every situation as an opportunity for spiritual growth. It’s about honesty, clarity of thought, courage, consideration for others, and the desire to grow intellectually, physically, socially, morally, and spiritually. The practical goal of every interaction is to teach students how to make good choices and why moral choices make a difference.

As a result, character education is intrinsic to all our activities—academic, athletic, extra-curricular, and in dorm life. It is particularly supported through Monday morning all-school chapel talks and during more intimate, daily chapels in each first period class. Everyone, teachers and students alike, work daily to reach higher standards of thought, speech, and behavior.
