Principia School Announces Return of Field Hockey Program, Names Todd Dillon Head Coach

Principia School has announced the return of varsity field hockey to its Upper School athletics program, alongside the appointment of Todd Dillon as head coach. The team is set to begin competition in fall 2026, marking the revival of a highly anticipated program.

The decision to bring back field hockey reflects years of planning and growing student interest, along with cutting-edge athletic field renovations. The School campus includes a recently installed world-class water turf field. The field supports advanced-level play, offering athletes high-quality facilities for practice and games.

Dillon brings extensive experience in coaching, program development, and student-athlete mentorship. He is known for his leadership with Lou Fusz Lacrosse Club, where he played a key role in building competitive teams and cultivating a culture focused on growth and character development.

In addition to his club leadership work, Dillon serves as a social studies teacher at Visitation Academy, where he has coached both field hockey and lacrosse. His experience also includes time with Aim Field Hockey Academy, further reflecting his commitment to advancing the sport and supporting athletes across skill levels.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the Principia community and help bring field hockey back to the Upper School,” said Dillon. “There is a proud history here, and I’m honored to be part of building the next chapter, one that emphasizes not only competing at a high level but also growing as individuals and teammates.”

Dillon will lead the effort to reestablish Principia’s field hockey program, honoring an incredible legacy while building a foundation for long-term success. His immediate focus includes developing skilled athletes and fostering a team environment grounded in Principia’s values with an emphasis on character development.

“Coach Dillon is an outstanding fit for Principia,” said Principia School Athletics Director Shawn Brown. “He understands that success is about more than wins and losses. His approach to coaching aligns with our Win-Win philosophy, where competitive excellence and the development of character, integrity, and spiritual growth go hand in hand.”

The reintroduction of varsity field hockey reflects Principia School’s ongoing commitment to expanding meaningful opportunities for students through athletics.
