Ingenuity, originality, creativity—resourcefulness. The list of adjectives describing Principia School’s burgeoning artists is impressive, extending far beyond our campus into the most respected circles of the local art community.
This year, the work of multiple students was selected for display in the prestigious Young Artist Showcase at the St. Louis Artists’ Guild, a highly competitive exhibition with over 400 submissions, and the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, a Regional High School Student Show which gives emerging artists a professional platform to share their creativity. Both honors celebrate our students’ exceptional imagination and talent. See the full list of selected students below.
Students’ artwork was submitted by Visual Arts Department Chair and teacher Mary Lamboley, and fellow art teacher Grace Hinthorne (US’08, C’12). Once submitted, the students’ artwork is reviewed and chosen for exhibition.
For students, having their artwork selected for exhibition is both an honor and meaningful recognition of their hard work, imagination, and talent. From ideation to creation—through planning, experimentation, and finally sharing their work—students experience a full creative journey.
“I love creating a space that supports students and their artistic expression,” Lamboley said, “The opportunity to facilitate and create a space where students can thrive and have the room to innovate is incredibly rewarding.”
Inspiration is on full display at Principia, from Jere’s award-winning “Bear” sculpture to Ruth’s commendation for her self-portrait and Anna’s singular duct-tape dress, Principia students are showcasing their creativity, dedication, and artistic growth.
Through opportunities like these exhibitions, Principia's young artists discover not just what they can create, but who they can become through creativity. The Principia community proudly celebrates this meaningful recognition of their unique work.
