Panther Basketball Makes History, Again

Principia Basketball is moving on up! The girls’ varsity team, led by an impressive cadre of underclassmen, broke records and made history this season, reaching the MIssouri State Championship game for the first time ever. Coach Josh Spuhl was named District Coach of the Year, while 6’2” freshman Dasia Scott topped the MIssouri stats sheets, with 24.4 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game, earning first-team all-conference and district player of the year honors; junior guard Jayla Hawkins was named second-team all-conference, and Nyja Williams, Nya Walker, Nylah Young, and Ellie Church all earned honorable mentions.

The boys’ varsity basketball team was boosted from Class 2 to Class 4 this year, coming within a last-second shot of unseating defending District champs MICDS. Freshman Gassim Toure and sophomore Quentin Coleman were named second-team all-conference, while sophomores Ron Henry, Jaylen Edwards, and freshman Sekou Cisse received honorable mention.
