Principia Hits the Slopes on its Annual Ski Trip
Principia School Ski Adventure

Fresh powder, pizza, and an indoor pool set the stage for Principia School’s annual ski trip to Chestnut Mountain Resort in Illinois. The group of students, many of whom had never skied before, bundled up with their friends for a five-and-a-half-hour drive, ready to hit the slopes with a whole lot of heart and teamwork.

Out of the 24 students who made the trip, nearly half were first-time skiers and snowboarders, but that didn’t stop them from tackling the slopes! The crew hit the bunny slopes on the magic carpet conveyor belt bright and early Saturday morning, where they got the hang of things with a quick lesson, some wipeouts, and plenty of laughs.

“Whether it was their first time on the mountain or just taking advice from a more experienced skier or snowboarder, it was such a blessing for everyone to be so willing to learn something new,” said senior Eli.

After a fun day on the slopes, the students headed to the resort’s pool and hot tub to unwind. What started as a relaxing swim turned into an impromptu cannonball contest, with senior JJ and junior Michael leading the charge. The students cheered (and winced) as their friends took the plunge. Even kids from other schools at the resort applauded the Principia pros as they demonstrated their cannonball mastery.

But it wasn’t just the cannonballs that kept everyone entertained during the trip. Konrad, a junior, shared his creative side by taking-on the slopes in a squirrel suit. The whole group, whether skiing, swimming, or hanging out at the lodge had an unforgettable time.

And the fun continued into Saturday night. While some

kids grabbed pizza and relaxed for the night, others hit the slopes again, skiing under the stars until 10:30 p.m.

More than just skiing, the weekend was about the community spirit that defines Principia School—a close-knit group of friends helping each other tackle the slopes and try new things. “It’s awesome how everyone just came together," said Director of Christian Science Nursing and chaperone Samantha Hardy. "Whether you were a first-time skier or a seasoned pro, everyone was so supportive. We had a blast!"

Until next time, here’s to more epic trips and shared memories at Principia School!
