Summertime Discovery

Summertime Discovery is a camp-like experience for children ages 4 to 11 (or entering grade 6). Our experienced program coordinators and energetic student assistants make summer a time of creativity and exploration, filled with enriching play.

The program typically operates for a number of weeks each summer on the Principia School campus. Activities include outdoor play, arts and crafts, science exploration, sports, and swimming—all integrated within an imaginative weekly theme that includes experiences and field trips that children will remember for years to come! Here is an example of some of our past themes:

  • Construction Zone
  • Time Travelers: Prehistoric Path/Medieval Mania/Pioneer Days/Fast Forward
  • Stars and Stripes Express
  • Just Add Water
  • Olympic Spirit
  • Superheroes Unite!
  • Best of Summer

Students can choose from half- or full-day participation. Morning drop-off at the Lower School playground runs from 8:30–9 a.m. Program activities begin promptly at 9 a.m. Afternoon pickup runs from 4:30–5 p.m. at the Lower School playground. Please note: there is a $1 per minute late charge beginning at 5:15 p.m. Pickup for children attending half days is 12:30 p.m. at the Lower School playground gate.

Information about the 2022 summer program will be posted in the new year. For questions about Summertime Discovery, please contact Camp Program Director Debra Kuhn at debra.kuhn@principia.edu.
