Lower School Admissions

• Click here to log into or create your Principia Admission Account. 
• Applicants will then receive an email with the link to their Principia admission account which will enable them to track the status of their application and receive an admission decision. 

• Register for a student/parent visit day by clicking here.
• A visit day is required for admission.

• Complete the Standard Application Online (SAO).
• When complete, submit the application and pay the $50 non-refundable application fee and $10 EMA service fee.

For students applying for the following grades, the below is required

• Grades 1-3: MAP Assessment
  • The NWEA MAP Assessment registration takes place within the Admissions Portal.  
  • The MAP Assessment takes place in-person at Principia.
• Grades 4 & 5: SSAT
  • Complete admission testing using the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) utilizing one of their virtual or in-person testing options.
  • Principia offers an in-person testing option on November 15, 2025 and January 31, 2026.
  • While the SSAT is Principia's preferred standardized test for grades 4 & 5, we will also accept the ITBS (Iowa Basics), NWEA MAP (Growth), Stanford Achievement, or ERB, provided the test was taken in the last six months.

• Once the SAO (Standard Application Online) is complete, you will need to schedule separate parent interviews. 
• These interviews take place virtually.  
• Interviews are scheduled via the Principia Admission Account.

• Applying for scholarships and tuition assistance is optional.
• Tuition assistance applications are completed through Clarity, and the application fee is $60.
• The tuition assistance application and scholarship applications must be submitted prior to the application deadline.
