Principia admits eligible, diploma-seeking students able to fully participate in our dynamic, learning community. Students who turn 19 prior to July 1 of their senior year are ineligible for admission. Transfer students need to acquire sufficient credits to meet graduation requirements. Applicants must be free from the use of alcohol, tobacco, vaping, and illegal substances of any type and from engagement in premarital sexual activities. Principia administers all programs without regard to gender, race, color, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin. We appreciate and celebrate diversity and individuality throughout our student body.

Tuition Assistance

Applying for tuition assistance is optional.

Tuition Assistance is available for grades 9–12.

Principia requires each family applying for tuition assistance to file a confidential online application. It is extremely important to submit the tuition assistance application on time, as there are budgetary limits to the available funds. Do not wait until a child is accepted to apply for assistance.

Financial Aid application deadlines:

December 8, 2023—Early Admission deadline for grade 9*
April 1, 2024—Priority Admission deadline for all grade levels*
June 3, 2024—Late Admission deadline for all grade levels

*Application for tuition assistance will be accepted beyond the deadline. However, the availability of tuition assistance may be limited.

*Scholarships are available through the April 3 deadline.

Decisions and notification:

Applying for tuition assistance does not affect the admission decision. The admission decision is a separate process from the tuition assistance determination and is led by a separate committee. The committee deliberations are confidential and address only factors affecting the assessment of financial need. Prospective families can expect a tuition assistance decision at the same time as their admission decision when applications are completed by or before the deadline.

Applications for Upper School open in September. We encourage you to apply early to guarantee your spot if admitted as well as having access to scholarships and tuition assistance (early & priority admission).

A minimum 2.5 GPA is required for admission.

Fall 2024–25 Deadlines:

December 8: Early admission (grade 9)
January 9: Early admission (grades 10–12)
January 11: International admission (grades 9–12)
April 1: Priority admission

A complete application includes:

In-person visit
Online application including parent, student, supplemental sections
Official transcript and school records, including any standardized testing results from applicant’s current school
Recommendations from current teachers
Christian Science or character references
Results of the MAP assessment ($40 fee)
Student & Family interview

A $50 application fee is required.

International Students

International applications are now open for the 2024–2025 academic year. Visit our International Students page for more information. Below is a snapshot of our process and criteria.

Eligibility

A 2.5 minimum core grade-point average (GPA on a four-point scale) is required.
An English proficiency assessment test result is required with minimum scores with one of the following:
- Duolingo
  - 90 for incoming 9th & 10th graders
  - 100 for incoming 11th & 12th graders
- TOEFL iBT
  - 59 for incoming 9th & 10th graders
  - 72 for incoming 11th & 12th graders
Students who will turn 19 years old prior to July of their 12th grade year are not eligible for admission.

Admission Criteria

Applications are given careful consideration with emphasis on academics, citizenship, and commitment to Christian Science.

Please note: Parents/legal guardians are the only individuals authorized to complete applications, forms and any other documentation.

The following items are required to complete the application:

Birth certificate
Duolingo or TOEFL iBT exams must be taken before November 19, 2023
- TOEFL iBT: Register here and select Principia's school code: "1964"
- Duolingo: Register here and select "Principia School"
Two years of completed academic transcripts/grade reports
Academic examinations/certifications
Upon offer of admission, official TB test results

Costs

Applicants are expected to cover these costs:

Application Fee ($50)
Any outstanding balance for tuition, room, board, and fees not covered by tuition assistance
International flights to and from Principia
Money for personal items, school supplies, uniforms, casual clothing, and social activities
Duolingo or TOEFL iBT, TB test, or visa-related expenses (e.g., application, interview)
Health insurance (required)

A completed tuition assistance application should be submitted at the same time as the admissions application.
