Garden

Principia School uses its on-site gardens and greenhouse to reinforce values of stewardship, instill a love for service, teach important lessons on entrepreneurship, and promote sustainability on campus. The gardens provide an enriching educational experience for kindergarteners through grade-12 students that complements Principia’s other programs and overall approach to hands-on, experiential learning.

There are four unique gardens on campus, each with its own purpose and focus. All four gardens and our working greenhouse offer opportunities for students to learn the science behind what they eat while exploring the basics of entrepreneurship and reaping the benefits of self-sufficiency.

Each garden provides students with the opportunity to deepen their understanding and appreciation of sustainability and community. We share food grown in the gardens with Principia’s dining room and local food banks in and around St. Louis.
